This award, presented by the Nova Scotia Designer Crafts Council at the NSDCC Christmas Market in 2007, is in recognition of the quality and craftsmanship consistently found in our work. There is considerable satisfaction in knowing that one’s furniture has soul: its origin in the forest; its spirit imparted by the maker and a presence which matures over the years. Fine furniture crafted by Allan Rutherford brings an enduring source of satisfaction for his clients and their descendants.

Fine furniture asks to be touched – to feel the satin finish and the details of the design. It reflects the owner’s good taste and gradually becomes an integral part of their personality through association and daily use.
